Hi-
Thanks for stopping by! For those of you keeping track, I am now in the second half of my graduate program. I’ve had a second short story accepted for publication, and I’m heading for the writer’s conference that I attended last April in LA (you know––the one where Joyce Carol Oates spoke to me). It would be awesome if they let me know when it will be published while I’m at the conference.
I also have a website for my writing. It’s bare-bones (for now): www.tewilderson.com
[obvs, you know this as you are reading this here now]
If I haven’t asked before, please follow me on Twitter––@MizGolightly
That’s where I share words of wisdom and encouragement on writing.
I plan on adding my writing credits as they accrue. This year my goal is to best myself and be published in three journals.
But I digress. I’m excited to go to the conference, and see friends from the MFA program. I’ll be sitting in on panels that will help with my Grand Plan. This is where I’m doubling down. I want to land an internship at Graywolf Press this fall (which will last until a month after I graduate). This would look stellar on my CV, and go a long way to getting an editorial assistant job after I finish school.
But the biggest news is that I’ve finished the first draft of my manuscript!
So, I’ll be attending panels at the conference on landing an agent and working with your first editor and the like. And, stopping by Graywolf Press’s booth to introduce myself and find out how many interns they take in the fall. I have spanky new business cards that say “writer” and I’ll be able to hand them out with a straight face (I think).
More on the conference in my next post. For now, it’s game on!
