Bonjour-
Well, I have started my MFA program, and I must say that it was nothing short of a life-changing event. I got choked up for days when I talked about it after returning home. I’ve never felt so energized, and purposeful as I did in my twelve days in Louisville, Kentucky.
My writing was well-received, and this gives me hope that my dream can be realized. So far I’ve worked hard, and I will continue to do so, but I’m anxiously awaiting feedback on my first assignment. But, because I’m a chucklehead I won’t get that feedback for a few weeks. Right now, I’m working on a story that has been percolating for years. I’m intimidated by it. I keep putting off working on it. I’m going to finish it.
So, to amend my dream, it’s to be published before I finish the program, I have a book deal, an option on that book, and teaching position offers pending. Dream big or go home (you’ve heard me say this before).
I’m less than a week from turning fifty, and I plan to live life king-sized (I’ll admit–I stole that from the a short story). So Happy Birthday to me!
And Happy New Year to you!
